Equality,
Balance,
All the same,
Should it be so?
Abstract? No!
So many creations are based on this shape,
Focusing on perfection,
Is there ever really such a balance?
Does everything need to be thought through?
Calculated?
Measured?
Eluding the mind that it has to be so,
Allowing no stretch for imagination,
Creativity,
Setting the mind free,
To splash,
To puddle,
To play,
To move endlessly,
Taking a paintbrush,
& just plain old having fun,
A color here,
A color there,
A line here,
A line there,
A cat riding on a rainbow,
Does it have to make sense?
No…
Just leave your hand to take over,
Feel it,
& Enjoy the Freedom,
Mixing colors & signs,
Symbols and charms,
Go crazy!
Imagination will take you,
Joy will replace you.

I Am Grateful

I am grateful…
For the life that was given to me.
The people that shaped the course of my life,
With bitter…sad…happy…joyful…difficult…fun moments,
Every single person in my life,
Who I shared long periods of time,
Or short periods of time,
Even just a brief encounter,
Those that will stay in my life & those that won’t.
Those who treated me fairly & unfairly,
Cruelly, and with Love,
Every experience,
Every memory,
Every country,
Every place.
I am grateful…
To the earth…
The oceans & forests,
The mountains & birds,
Rocks & insects,
Plants & animals,
Making my life an exciting adventure.
I am grateful…
For the way my life has been…
Is…
& will be in the future.
I AM GRATEFUL.

Live Honestly

We are here to be who we are,
It’s that simple.
The world makes it difficult sometimes,
Having to follow certain rules…etiquettes…
What is considered “normal,”
Obligated to act, dress, be a certain way,
Otherwise seen as antisocial, strange, rude, selfish, weird or different,
As if something is wrong with us.
Is there really a “normal?”
When there are set systems in which we are to live
in,
No one can be there true unique selves.
Everyone is so different but we are taught that we all must be the same.
If you really think about it – How absurd!
We can only be truly happy if we are ourselves,
The more we try to reject this,
The more we suffer.
Adversity,
Biodiversity,
Our purpose in life can only be achieved through this.
We play a certain role in order to fit in,
Be accepted by others,
The world does not want originality…individuality,
It wants control,
This way its safe,
No threats,
Keeping people in boxes,
We fear what we do not know right?
We reject what we do not understand,
Structure is safe,
If we are all the same,
Following the same routines…behaviors,
Then we can feel good about ourselves,
Because we are like the other,
So we believe in ourselves through the other,
Or we need the other to believe in oneself,
In essence we are fooling ourselves.
Forget what others tell you,
How you should act & do,
What do YOU feel?
What does your heart tell you?
Let’s love one another for who they are,
Not what we want them to be.
No matter what anyone says,
Be true to yourself.
You must believe in yourself,
Accept yourself,
Be yourself,
Then your life will be full of happiness.
Being honest with ourselves means being honest with everyone around us.

Footprints

Remnants of past generations,
Leaving our mark,
I take a stroll along the beach & wonder,
All the footprints,
Human…non human,
What stories they could tell.
One day I came across a footprint of a frog & wondered…
What a stupid story,
Kissing a frog to appear as a prince,
So silly,
Why there need be a prince?
Why not walk the path with all of humanity,
Hand in hand,
Leaving behind footprints of peace,
Union,
Working together as a whole,
Why could the frog not represent kissing nature?
Embracing the world as a whole,
Loving one another,
Rather than needing one another,
Is a kiss with a frog so strange?
Mere matter of perception,
A mere little creature,
Filling our ponds,
Quaking along,
Annoying at times,
But atmospheric at others,
Footprints belong to all little creatures,
All beings,
Shaping the course of this planet.

Instead of thinking about things,
Feel things…
Do not let your mind take rule,
Forget about logic,
Just allow the emotions you feel to come to the surface,
Feel them deeply…
Allow your body to tell you what it wants,
What it needs,
Let the emotions be expressed,
Release them so they can be on their way,
So they can show you the way,
Do not suppress them,
Then you will be true to yourself,
True to others,
There will be no more secrets,
Just clarity,
Purity,
Honesty.
There is nothing to fear,
When feelings unfold,
Blocking, hiding, burying only leads to blindness…
Emptiness,
Missing out on the truest gift of all…
Love.

Silence

What does it mean to be silent?
Truly silent?
To be in seclusion away from the world?
No one around,
Is this silence?
Even away from the noisy cars driving along the streets,
People Chattering,
Machines beeping,
Phones ringing,
That does not save us from the clutter of noise.
It is within ourselves that true silence can only be found.
Switching off the mind,
Those thoughts,
Constant chattering of the brain,
Free will it,
Let go of it all,
Then you will experience the present moment,
Feel everything as alive…vibrant…beautiful.
Every noise…sound…image will echo happiness,
Appreciation will fill our heart.

My name is Gaia (Γαία) and I was born on the beautiful lush island of Kos, along the Aegean sea of Greece, where Hippocrates, the "father of medicine" was born. I am a writer (favorite being children's stories and fairy tales), artist, dancer, modern day Greek Mythologist, nature dweller, photographer, traveler, dreamer, and creator.
